Hi Mark Mortimer here from the band DC Fontana. We have a very Northern Soul & 60`s Soul Sound welded to a touch of dancefloor friendly jazz & 60`s pop/psychedelia so your 2 tracks LOST SUMMER LOVE & HAPPY FACES are very much our kind of flavour. I love the energy in those recordings.Ther`s a real "Jore de vivre" in both your vocals and also the playing of the musicians involved.Something i find inspiring as i like my music to be passionately performed from the heart and with plenty of energy. We do plenty of Northern type tunes maybe one day we will play Happy Faces or Lost Summer Love. Take good care.Mark

HI Lorraine, I found out about you by accident while on line. It was a great discovery. I heard Lost Summer Love and was blown away. I immediately got on the phone to others here in the US who are music lovers and radio disc jockeys (if I can still say that) to let them know about your DYNAMITE records.
Thanks for some NEW great memories.

What a fantastic story. Those who are in the know will understand that this type of story is typical of those classic Northern cuts. Got to say I didn`t realise Lorriane was white, English and 13 when she recorded `Lost Summer love`. My own personal experiance of the track is a little tarnished. I met a lovely girl (from Wigan as it happens) on a holiday in the lakes (you know who you are), after a summer of furtive fumbles it was sadly not to be, she left me with the legacy of a `Lost Summer Love` and even presented me with the disc as a momento.

Some people pound out records by the minute, although they have no talent what so ever. And then there are people with such a soulful mind it drives you insane that there`s so little to enjoy. You`re definetely one in the later category.
Next saturday i`m going to a wedding party for two of my friends. In advace, they asked all the guests to pick one song each to be played during the evening. I picked "Happy faces" and it`s already a favourite with the wedding couple. And the party hasn`t even started...
Keep on keeping on, soul sister! Thank you!

Everytime i make a compilation tape or cd for friends, I always include `Lost Summer Love`. I just keyed it into google and came up with this fascinating story. In the unlikely event that i get invited onto Desert Island Discs, it`s certainly going to be one of my choices.
I actually work in Wigan near the site of the casino, sadly it`s just wasteground now.

Hi Lorraine,
glad you are happy about the underground success of your single "lost summer love". Just for the record I deejayed at Wigan Casino between 1974-1976 as you now know this was the hub of the scene.Although there have been a lot of stories I was the DJ who introduced your record first at the Casino and persisted with it and made it amonster sound on thes scene in 1976. Just thought you might like to know. All the best.

Hello Lorraine,
This may sound like a strange reason to write, but I hope you`ll humor me and will answer! So far I`ve only heard your single "Lost Summer Love" and love it, but the reason I discovered you was because I`m a huge Johnny Harris fan, and I know he worked with you in the 60`s. I`d love to hear anything you can tell me about working with him and about any memories you have of him. He`s an amazing man and an incredible talent to say the least! I`ve been a fan since he was with Paul Anka back in the 70`s. I`d really love to hear from you. Thank you very much.

Your record when you were 13 I always thought to be Lesley Gore, you have now put me out of my misery! If you do a gig back in civilisation let me know, so I can give you support. Dear Lorraine,
I was an assistant manager of the Fleet in Peterborough back in the 70s. We had, much to my shock at the time, decied to do all nighters. I made good overtimee and yet was forced to listen for 8 hours week on week in to this strange kind of music that I had never encountered before. Needless to say I became hooked to such an extent that I consider myself an expert on Northern Soul! Mind you I have never come across any one else who has not thought the same. One of my abiding and most treasrued singles is is of course Lost Summer Love, which I bought!! I still play it on the internet and it brings back so many happy memories for me ,and your voice, Lorraine is amazing. We have great soul nights at the King Georges Hall in Blackburn, you have probably heard of them. It would be wonderful to have you as a guest some time. If you are interested let me know, any way thanks for a great, great single, I would certaliny take it on my desert island
All the best and warmest regards,
Paul Mason ( 51)

It`s great you are getting the recognition you deserve after all this time.
I`ve been into this music for nearly 35 years, my older brothers and sisters were into Mowtown,Stax, Attlantic, commercia stuff and a few imports that started coming in, so I had an early insight into the music that was gonna rule my life for, well for ever, and your song was one of those tunes that bolstered my love of this wonderfull but, alass, very missunderstood scene.
Well, having said that, here I am, 50 next month, loving this music more than ever!!!
By the way I`m listening to Noerthern Soul Radio as I write this.

Hi Lorraine, it was so interesting to read about your rise to fame. As one of the worlds great bass players I started out at the same time and find any stories of those days of great interest. and was alerted to your web site by "his Holiness" Mike Bloom. The strange thing is, I had never heard Lost Summer Love until he played it to me.
I now have it on my computer and can admit I love it!! I listen to it most days. You had a very mature voice when you recorded the song for one so young. I notice that you look pretty good nowadays!! (Sorry Mr E)
May bump in to you in the studio one day. Good luck with the album.
